As part of the National Governors Associations (NGA) Securing a Clean Energy Future Initiative (SCEF Initiative), four governors today joined together in Florida to discuss advancing alternative fuels and clean vehicles in the United States, release the first SCEF Initiative publication "A Call to Action," and announce a clean energy partnership between NGA and Discovery Communications.

NORTHSTAR COMMUTER RAIL PROJECT SECURES FINAL FEDERAL FUNDING APPROVAL -- December 11, 2007
Federal, state and local officials gathered today at the Anoka County Government Center for the signing ceremony of the Full Funding Grant Agreement (FFGA) for Northstar Commuter Rail. The FFGA commits $156.8 million in federal matching funds and immediately releases another $97.5 million in state bonding money for Northstar construction and trains.

Governor Tim Pawlenty today requested that all U.S. and Minnesota flags be flown at half-staff at all state buildings in Minnesota from sunrise to sunset tomorrow, Friday, December 7, in honor and remembrance of those who died as a result of their service at Pearl Harbor. Governor Pawlenty followed President Bush's request to fly the flag of the United States at half-staff at all federal buildings on that day.
