GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS VAN BINSBERGEN TO BOARD OF ACCOUNTANCY -- October 6, 2010

Saint Paul – Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Scott Van Binsbergen to the Board of Accountancy.

Van Binsbergen, of Montevideo, owns a number of businesses in western Minnesota, including Van Binsbergen and Associates, a real estate and property management firm in Montevideo; Madsen Properties, Inc., a property management company in Battle Lake; Health Providers, Inc., a provider of assisted living facilities and services for seniors and developmentally disabled adults; and Burnsdale Apartment Complex for elderly and disabled individuals. Van Binsbergen earned his bachelor of arts degree from Moorhead State University. He is a member and past president of the Montevideo Chamber of Commerce, Minnesota Realtors Association, and Hope Reformed Church Board, and has been active in numerous other community and civic organizations. He received the 2004 Southwest Minnesota “Entrepreneur of the Year” award. Van Binsbergen, who replaces Melodie Rose as a public member of the Board of Accountancy, is appointed to complete a four-year term that expires on January 3, 2011.

The Board of Accountancy examines, licenses, and regulates certified public accountants. The board consists of nine members appointed by the Governor.
