WHEREAS: Master Sergeant Daniel L. Fedder was born in Mora, Minnesota, on July 31, 1976; and
WHEREAS: Master Sergeant Daniel L. Fedder graduated from Pine City High School, Pine City, Minnesota, in 1994; and
WHEREAS: Master Sergeant Daniel L. Fedder enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on December 27, 1994; and
WHEREAS: Master Sergeant Daniel L. Fedder was a member of the 1st Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company, Camp Pendleton, California; and
WHEREAS: Master Sergeant Daniel L. Fedder was a devoted Marine and selfless leader. His many awards and decorations include: the Purple Heart, two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, a Joint Service Achievement Medal, three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, an Army Achievement Medal, a Combat Action Ribbon, two Joint Meritorious Unit Awards, three Navy Unit Commendations, five Good Conduct Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, an Iraq Campaign Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, a Global War on Terror Service Medal, a Humanitarian Service Medal, four Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, two Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbons, and a Marine Security Guard Ribbon; and
WHEREAS: Master Sergeant Daniel L. Fedder died a hero on Friday, August 27, 2010, in Afghanistan, while serving in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; and
WHEREAS: Master Sergeant Daniel L. Fedder is survived by his wife, Diana; former spouse, Susan; children, Danielle and Storm; parents, Jackie and Robert; brother, Dominick; and other loving family and friends; and
WHEREAS: Visitation for Master Sergeant Daniel L. Fedder will be held Monday, September 6, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Pine City National Guard Armory, Pine City, Minnesota; and
WHEREAS: Funeral service for Master Sergeant Daniel L. Fedder will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the Pine City National Guard Armory, Pine City, Minnesota; and
WHEREAS: Interment with full military honors will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at Birchwood Cemetery, Pine City, Minnesota; and
WHEREAS: The State of Minnesota recognizes Master Sergeant Daniel L. Fedder for his dedicated service to and sacrifice for the people of this country with our deepest gratitude, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and community.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, TIM PAWLENTY, Governor of Minnesota, do hereby order all U.S. flags and Minnesota flags be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in the State of Minnesota, from sunrise until sunset on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, in honor and remembrance of Master Sergeant Daniel L. Fedder.
