GENERAL NOTES

Toensing lists his birth year as 1855. The Minnesota Legislative Manual, 1870 lists him as being 33 years old. The Minnesota Historical Society's 20th Biennial Report, p. 38 lists 1835. A photo of his gravestone also lists his birth year as 1835.

He came to Glencoe, Minnesota in November 1855.

He was severely wounded and lost his right arm in the battle of Missionary Ridge, Tennessee on November 25, 1863.

He was listed as being a Republican in the Minnesota Legislative Manuals, 1868 and 1869.

He published the Glencoe Enterprise newspaper from 1878-1889. (MHS)

He died at home in McLeod County, Minnesota. He was buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Glencoe, Minnesota.
