GENERAL NOTES

He was a member of the Republican Party.

He ran unsuccessfully as the Independent Republican Party endorsed candidate for the Minnesota House of Representatives in the 1990 election. His opponent, Rebecca "Becky" Lourey, defeated him by less than 200 votes so an automatic recount should have occurred. However, Douglas W. Carlson waived his right to the recount and she was declared the winner.

His funeral was held at the Evangelical Free Church in Sandstone. He was buried at Spring Park Cemetery in Sandstone.
