He was a Rural Liberal from the Nonpartisan League days. (Minnesota Legislative Manual, 1965-66)

He is one of the longest serving legislators. Rep. Lyndon Carlson is the longest-serving legislator; Rep. Mary Murphy is the second longest serving legislator; and Rep. Iverson is tied with two others, Rep. Phyllis Kahn and Sen. Anton Rockne, for third longest serving legislator. Rep. Iverson and Sen. Rockne served in both bodies.

He died in Ashby, Minnesota. His funeral was held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashby, Minnesota. He was buried in Pelican Lake Cemetery.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ashby, Minnesota.
