GENERAL NOTES
Toensing lists his birth year as 1852. The Minnesota Historical Society on their W.W. Mayo House site lists 1853.
He was of Irish ancestry.
He moved to Wabasha, Minnesota in 1870 or 1871 and then moved to Le Sueur, Minnesota in April 1872.
He was one of the founders of the Minnesota Valley Canning Company (later to become the Green Giant Company) in 1903. He became a Board Member in 1905. He served as President of the Board from 1925-1929. He served as Chair of the Board from 1930-1936.
He helped to organize the Minnesota State Fair in the 1880s.
He died as a result of injuries from an automobile accident.
