GENERAL NOTES

He was of English and Dutch ancestry.

He moved to Chester, Vermont around 1839 to live with his aunt. He moved to Granville, New York around 1848. He then went to Pultney, Vermont around 1851. He then lived in Salem, New York until he moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1853 or 1854. He came to Red Wing, Minnesota in July 1857. He moved to St. Paul, Minnesota in 1901. He then moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota around 1911, to live with his son.

He ran unsuccessfully as the Republican endorsed candidate for the Minnesota Senate in the 1861 election.

"In politics Mr. Hubbard has always been a Republican." (Progressive Men of Minnesota, 1897, p. 61)

He was wounded at the Battle of Corinth and at the Battle of Nashville during the United States Civil War.

Hubbard County, Minnesota was named after him.

He died at his son's home in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing, Minnesota.
