New Materials

  • Just In (Sign up for the Just In email list) - A monthly list combining state agency documents and materials from other publishers.
  • Newly Acquired State Government Reports (Sign up for the Newdocs email list) - A continuously updated list of the newest state government reports received by the Legislative Reference Library. The list includes both reports mandated by the Legislature and other documents from state agencies.

Mandated Reports

  • Each year the Legislature mandates reports and studies to be completed by state agencies or other governmental entities. Some mandates are for one-time studies; others are for ongoing reports. Agencies are required to submit an electronic version and two print copies of each report to the Legislative Library (Minnesota Statutes 3.195). Search for anticipated and acquired (mainly since 2003) mandated reports via the Library's mandated reports database or our complete collection of acquired mandated reports via the Library's catalog.

State Documents

  • The publications of Minnesota state government agencies are an integral part of the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library's collection. The collection is searchable through the library's catalog. According to Minnesota Statutes 3.195 and 3.302 Subd. 3, the Legislative Reference Library is to receive all documents published by the state and considered to be of interest or value to the library. The Library places a priority on acquiring reports mandated by the Legislature. However, since the Library began in 1969, it has also collected other Minnesota state documents, including consultants' reports and many earlier documents.

Other Library Catalogs

  • Legislative Librarians can obtain materials through interlibrary loan for legislators and legislative staff from libraries throughout Minnesota and the country. Call 651-296-8338 or email us to request an item.
