• Internal Revenue Code - Provides access to the complete text of Title 26 of the United States Code. This searchable site is part of the Cornell University Legal Information Institute.

State Information

• Council on State Taxation (COST) - "COST's objective is to preserve and promote equitable and nondiscriminatory state and local taxation of multijurisdictional business entities." COST publishes many reports on business taxation including Total State and Local Business Taxes: State-by-State Estimates for Fiscal Year 2010.
• Federation of Tax Administrators - The FTA website has links to state tax rates and structures, tax related sites, and discussion lists.
• Multistate Tax Commission - The Multistate Tax Commission, created by interstate compact, "is an organization of state governments that works with taxpayers to administer, equitably and efficiently, tax laws that apply to multistate and multinational enterprises."
• State Government Tax Collections Data by State - The State Tax Collection Data site contains summary information from the Census Bureau on tax revenues of the 50 state governments and the District of Columbia for the years 1992 through 2010.

• Center on Budget and Policy Priorities - "A nonpartisan research organization and policy institute that conducts research and analysis on a range of government policies and programs, with an emphasis on those affecting low- and moderate-income people." Frequently their research focuses on taxation.
• Citizens for Tax Justice - "A nonpartisan, nonprofit research and advocacy organization dedicated to fair taxation at the federal, state, and local levels."
• Tax Analysts - A nonprofit organization dedicated to providing information to tax professionals. Check out their Tax History Project.
• Tax and Accounting Sites Directory - This site, maintained by Dennis Schmidt, contains links to state departments of revenue.
• Tax Facts - This site "provides tax information for citizens, policy analysts, legislators, and the press. Data are compiled from a variety of sources, including the Urban Institute, Brookings Institution, Internal Revenue Service, the Joint Committee on Taxation, the Congressional Budget Office, the Department of the Treasury, the Federation of Tax Administrators, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. Tax Facts is a product of the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center. The Center provides independent analyses of current and longer-term tax issues."
