Mandated Reports
Each year, the Legislature mandates reports and studies to be completed by state agencies or
other governmental entities. Mandates are for either one-time studies or ongoing reports. While
some reports are mandated to the Legislature as a whole, others are directed to specific
legislative committees.
Legislative Reference Library staff track these
mandates and obtain copies of the reports for our collection in
order to provide long-term access. Each year we read the session
laws to identify new mandates and note repeals or
extensions of mandates. For example, in the 2011
Session Laws we identified 198 new or changed mandates;
in 2012 there were 173.
This database allows for searching of mandated reports that the Library is expecting or has received since 2003 (Selected mandates prior to 2003 are included.) Multiple search fields allow for the creation of custom lists. Each year, the Legislature mandates reports and studies to be completed by state agencies or other governmental entities. If you know the title, mandate number (law or statute citation), some keywords, or the
issuing agency, you can use the Library's

Any available electronic versions of the mandated reports will be linked to the catalog record.
