Newspaper Clippings Files
The Library's print clipping files provide valuable historical coverage and supplement occasional gaps in electronic coverage of legislative issues. Clipping file coverage is from 1970 to June 2009. Please see the Library's
News Archive for newspaper articles from 2009 to the present.
- Subject files include articles chosen from the Star Tribune,
the St. Paul Pioneer Press, and selected greater Minnesota newspapers.
Detailed primary and secondary subject codes are listed in the Library's Codebook.
Coverage dates from 1970 to 2009.
- Legislative district files include articles on legislators from newspapers and magazines. Filed by legislative district number, the coverage dates from 1972.
- Minnesota Personalities clipping files include newspaper articles
and other materials on former Minnesota legislators and selected prominent Minnesotans,
including newspaper columnists and state officials.

- Opinion polls from selected Minnesota newspapers are available in
the reference collection: Minnesota Poll/StarTribune (1970 to present), St. Cloud
Times Poll (1979 to present), St. Paul Pioneer Press Dispatch (1977 to present).

**Access to ProQuest is provided through the Electronic Library for Minnesota (ELM),
a state-funded, Minitex-administered program. Legislators and staff may access the ProQuest papers off-site. Contact the library for passwords.
Electronic newspaper archives may not include all articles and commentary published in the print editions. Due to the U.S. Supreme
Court Tasini decision, contributions by authors other than newspaper staff may
not be available.
