Back to School

This year marked a big change for education in Minnesota as free, all-day kindergarten became available in all schools across the state. Passed as part of the education funding bill in 2013, the all-day kindergarten program is intended to provide Minnesota’s youngest students more time in the classroom to develop the foundational skills needed for life-long learning.

What does education in Minnesota look like? Several recent reports provide statistics and other useful information about Minnesota students and the state’s education system. The 2014 Multiple Measurements Ratings were released on October 1st, revealing Minnesota schools' overall performance.
