Minnesota Government Shutdown
Talk of a potential government shutdown has been in the news lately and the Legislative Reference Library has already begun fielding questions related to a previous partial government shutdown in 2005. We’ve proactively compiled a notebook of materials related to this topic which provides a nice overview of the 2005 situation. Materials in the notebook cover public opinions, editorials, commentaries, political cartoons, effects on government employees, and general news coverage in both the metro area and Greater Minnesota.
We’ve also electronically archived many of the 2005 shutdown documents including the Ramsey County District Court order, Temporary Funding of Core Functions of the Executive Branch of the State of Minnesota, and the Leadership Agreement that ended the 2005 shutdown. There are materials related to the potential 2001 government shutdown as well including the Temporary Funding of Core Functions of the Executive Branch of the State of Minnesota court order and State Shutdown Coordinating Team Announces "Critical Services" to be Continued in Event of a Government Shutdown.
