Text: June 6, 2016 Governor Mark Dayton116 Veterans Services Building20 W 12th StreetSt. Paul, MN 55155 Dear Governor Dayton, As we arrive at the final day for you to sign the tax bill into law, I am writing to stronglyencourage you to sign the bill which passed the legislature with strong bipartisan support. To thebest of my knowledge, all legislative leaders have agreed to correct the inadvertent errors whichhave rightfully caused you and others concern. This isn't a Democrat or Republican tax bill; this is a bipartisan tax bill that provides substantialrelief for college students, low and middle income families, veterans, farmers, and smallbusinesses. The bill also includes funding increases for Local Government Aid (LGA) and CountyProgram Aid (CPA). Finally, it includes a new tax credit for those people living in Minnesota, butworking in Wisconsin.I am not interested in participating in the political rhetoric which tends to dominate theconversations at the Capitol. Instead, I prefer to get things done for the people we represent. Wedon't always agree with each other on the issues, but I respect you as a person and as theGovernor of our great state. Let's show Minnesotans that Democrats and Republicans can in factwork together in the best interest of the state by making the tax bill law and convening for specialsession. As always, I will make myself available to anyone, Democrat or Republican, who iswilling to work together toward building a reasonable, bipartisan, long-term transportationpackage, and bonding bill that could pass in a special session. Finally, as we look forward to the 2017 legislative session, I would like to request yourpartnership on a proposal put forth earlier this session by the Senate Purple Caucus to set a new 4thdeadline which would require conference committee reports to be posted for a minimum of oneweek prior to the end of session. This would allow members of the Legislature, theAdministration, and the public to have the opportunity to read and digest the information. This isan important reform that would drastically increase transparency and inclusiveness in the finaldays of our legislative sessions. Sincerely,Senator Jeremy Miller
