Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced a plan to use the remaining %155 million in reserve funds and trim $271.4 million in state expenditures to balance the state's budget for the current fiscal year.

Data from the 2007 Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) will be released on Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. CST at http://timssandpirls.bc.edu/. Education Commissioner Alice Seagren will hold a press conference at 10:00 a.m. CST Tuesday at the Science Museum of Minnesota in St. Paul to discuss the results.

19 TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS COMPLETED UNDER PAWLENTY ADMINISTRATION FUNDING PLAN -- December 8, 2008
A project to widen Highway 34 through Park Rapids and another to reconstruct Highway 10 through Detroit Lakes were the last projects to be completed with more than $900 million Transportation Finance Package funds proposed and authorized by Governor Pawlenty in 2003. Through this funding, the Minnesota Department of Transportation accelerated 19 major highway capital improvement, safety and preservation projects statewide over 65 years ahead of schedule.

GOVERNOR PAWLENTY SECURES FEDERAL AGRICULTURE DISASTER DESIGNATION FOR LAC QUI PARLE, BIG STONE, CHIPPEWA, SWIFT, AND YELLOW MEDICINE COUNTIES -- December 1, 2008
Governor Tim Pawlenty announced today that Lac Qui Parle, Big Stone, Chippewa, Swift, and Yellow Medicine counties have been designated agricultural disaster areas by U.S. Agriculture Secretary Edward Schafer. The designation makes farm operators in each county eligible for low-interest emergency loans from the federal Farm Service Agency (FSA).

To expand access, increase technology skills, provide exciting and inspiring course content, and maximize efficiency and use of taxpayer resources, Governor Tim Pawlenty and Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) Board of Trustees Chair David Olson today announced a goal to have 25 percent of all MnSCU credits earned through online courses by 2015.
