GOVERNOR'S RESIDENCE TO OPEN FOR TOURS -- May 26, 2010

Saint Paul -- Governor Tim Pawlenty and First Lady Mary Pawlenty announced the Governor’s Residence will again open to the public for summer tours beginning Tuesday, June 1, and continuing throughout June, July, and August, on the first three Tuesdays of each month.

“The Governor’s Residence was graciously donated to the state by Olivia Irvine Dodge and Clotilde Irvine Moles and belongs to the people of Minnesota,” Governor Pawlenty said. “The First Lady and I invite all Minnesotans to visit this marvelous place.”

The Governor’s Residence is at 1006 Summit Avenue, Saint Paul. Tours are open to the public. The self-guided open house tour features docents from the Women's Auxiliary of the Minnesota Historical Society in each room to answer questions. This year’s tour includes the main level of the home and extensive viewing of the gardens. Public spaces within the home that will be open include the foyer, drawing room, solarium, library, dining room, west hall and east porch. Master Gardeners from Hennepin, Ramsey and Washington counties will also be available during this summer's tours to answer questions about the Residence grounds as well as general horticulture inquiries.

Those with a group of 15 or more should call (651) 297-2161 to make a reservation. Tours run from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and are free of charge. A photo ID is required for admittance.
