GOVERNOR PAWLENTY REAPPOINTS KIRKPATRICK TO BOARD OF BARBER AND COSMETOLOGIST EXAMINERS -- January 7, 2005

Saint Paul -- Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the reappointment of Kenneth Kirkpatrick to the Board of Barber and Cosmetologist Examiners.

Kirkpatrick, of White Bear Lake, owns and operates Capitol Barbers in St. Paul, Maplewood, and the Twin Cities International Airport. He is a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 653 Barbers Union, has been a barber in Minnesota for over 30 years, and was national president of the Barber Boards of America in 2003. Kirkpatrick, who has served on the Minnesota Board of Barber and Cosmetologist Examiners since 1980 and is currently board chair, is reappointed as a member representing master barbers for another four-year term that expires January 5, 2009.

The Board of Barber and Cosmetologist Examiners oversees the administration, enforcement, regulation, and adoption of rules regulating the barber and cosmetologist professions. The board consists of seven members appointed by the Governor, including three barbers, three cosmetologists and one public member.
