GOVERNOR PAWLENTY REAPPOINTS DICKSON TO THE BOARD OF PHARMACY -- April 7, 2005
 

Saint Paul – Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the reappointment of Thomas Dickson to the Board of Pharmacy. 

Thomas Dickson, of Duluth, currently serves as Director of Pharmacy at Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet.  He has held that position since 2003.  From 1999 to 2003, Dickson served as Director of Pharmacy at Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake.  From 1983 to 1999, he served as Director of Pharmacy and Material Management at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.  Dickson was the President and Owner of Shrem Corporation, a Duluth based pharmacy and nursing home consulting service, from 1978 to 1988. 

Dickson served as President of the Minnesota Society of Health System Pharmacists in 1991.  He served as a member of the Proctor Board of Education from 1981 to 1996, serving as Board Chair from 1988 to 1996.  Dickson received a B.A. in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Minnesota in Duluth, and a B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.  He is appointed as a pharmacist member of the Board and will serve a four-year term which ends January 5, 2009.  Dickson was first appointed to the Board of Pharmacy in 2001.  He currently serves as the Board’s President. 

The Board of Pharmacy is responsible for licensing and disciplining pharmacists.  The board also inspects and licenses all pharmacies, drug wholesalers, and drug manufacturers.  The board is made up of seven members appointed by the Governor.
