GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS TWO TO THE BOARD OF EXAMINERS FOR NURSING HOME ADMINISTRATORS -- April 19, 2005
 

Saint Paul -- Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Kyle Nordine and the reappointment of Jane Pederson to the Board of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators.

Kyle Nordine, of Northfield, is the CEO and Administrator of the Lutheran Home of the Cannon Valley/Northfield Retirement Community. He previously served as Vice President of Operations for Fairview Red Wing Health Services. Nordine is a former Chairman of the Minnesota Health and Housing Alliance and a former President of the Lutheran Long Term Care Council of Minnesota. He also served as a Red Wing City Council Member from 2000 to 2003. Nordine has been a licensed nursing home administrator since 1982. He received a B.A. in Business Administration and Social Work from Concordia College in Moorhead. Nordine is appointed to a board position for a non-profit nursing home administrator and will serve a four-year term ending January 5, 2009. He replaces Thomas Goeritz on the Board.

Jane Pederson, M.D., of Woodbury, is the Director of Medical Affairs for Stratis Health in Bloomington. She also currently serves as the Medical Director for Optage in St. Paul. Pederson previously served as a Geriatrician for PartneringCare HealthPartners Senior Services. Pederson is a Board Member of the Minnesota Gerontological Society. She received a B.A. in Physics from St. Olaf College in Northfield, and an M.D. and M.S. (Health Services Research and Policy) from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Pederson is board certified in Internal Medicine with added qualifications in Geriatrics. She is appointed to the board position for a physician member and will serve a four-year term ending January 5, 2009. Pederson first joined the Board in 1996. This is her third full Board term.

The Board of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators licenses nursing home administrators. In addition, the board investigates complaints and has the authority to revoke or suspend an administrator's license. The board is made up of nine members appointed by the Governor, as well as ex-officio members from the Minnesota Department of Health and Minnesota Department of Human Services.
