GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS FOUR TO THE MINNESOTA BOARD OF NURSING -- June 14, 2005
 

Saint Paul - Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the reappointment of Jessie Czeslawa Daniels and Kristina Malone, and the appointment of Marcia Farinacci and Darin Prescott to the Minnesota Board of Nursing. 

Jessie Czeslawa Daniels, of Minneapolis, is a Senior Teaching Specialist at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing in Minneapolis.  She has been a registered nurse in Minnesota since 1972.  Daniels previously served as an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Minnesota State University-Mankato.  She received a B.S.N. and a M.A. in Medical-Surgical Nursing from the University of Iowa.  Daniels is appointed to the board position for a registered nurse who is teaching in a baccalaureate degree nursing program.  She will serve a four-year term which ends January 5, 2009.  Daniels was first appointed to the board in 2001. 

Marcia Farinacci, of St. Paul, previously served as Acting Director and Deputy Director of the Minnesota Office of Strategic and Long-Range Planning.  She also served as the Director of Operations for the Office of Governor Arne Carlson.  Farinacci served as a public member of the Board of Psychology from 1997 to 2005.  She also served as a member of the Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board and the Board of Trustees of the Public Employees Retirement Association.    Farinacci is appointed to a board position for a public member.  She will serve a four-year term which ends January 5, 2009.  Farinacci replaces Susan Ward on the board.

Kristina Malone, of Monticello, is a LPN Staff Nurse and Trainer at the Monticello-Big Lake Community Nursing Home.  She has been a licensed practical nurse in Minnesota since 1973.  Malone previously served as a Clinic Nurse at RiverPlace Physicians in Monticello.  She has also served as a member of the Wright County Mental Health Advisory Committee.  Malone is a graduate of the St. Cloud Vocational and Technical School LPN nursing program.  She is appointed to a board position for a licensed practical nurse.  Malone will serve a four-year term which ends January 5, 2009.  She was first appointed to the board in 2001. 

Darin Prescott, of Morton, is the Director of the Family Surgery Center in Willmar.  He has been a registered nurse in Minnesota since 1994.  Prescott previously served as Unit Coordinator of Surgical Services at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.  He also served as an on-call Registered Nurse at Redwood Area Hospital in Redwood Falls.  Prescott received an A.A.S. in Nursing from the College of St. Catherine (St. Mary's Campus) in Minneapolis.  He is appointed to a board position for a registered nurse.  Prescott will serve a four-year term which ends January 5, 2009.  He replaces Dianna Bryant on the board. 

The Minnesota Board of Nursing is responsible for licensing and disciplining nurses and approving nurse education programs.  The board is made up of 16 members appointed by the Governor.
