GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS BOULTON TO THE MnSCU BOARD OF TRUSTEES -- June 17, 2005
 

Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Michael Boulton to the Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State College and University System (MnSCU). 

Michael Boulton, of Porter, is a May 2005 graduate of Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) in Marshall.  He received a B.S. degree in Political Science and Business Administration.  This coming fall, Boulton will start classes toward a Master's of Arts in Urban and Regional Studies degree at Minnesota State University-Mankato.  He is expected to graduate with his M.A. degree in May 2007. 

Boulton served on the board of directors for the Minnesota State University Student Association in 2004-05.  He served as a president (2004-05) and senator (2002-04) for the SMSU Student Association.  Boulton also served as president of the SMSU Political Science Association from 2002-03 and as a member of the SMSU Pep Band from 2002-04.  

Boulton worked part-time and summers for the City of Marshall Engineering Department in 2002-05.  He also served an internship with the Lincoln County Environmental Office in the summer of 2004.  Boulton was born and raised on a farm in rural Lincoln County.  He is appointed to the Board seat for a state university student.  Boulton will serve a term from July 1, 2005 until June 30, 2007.  He replaces Tyler Despins on the Board.   

The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System is governed by a 15-member Board of Trustees appointed by the Governor. The Board has policy responsibility for system planning, academic programs, fiscal management, personnel, admissions requirements, tuition and fees, and rules and regulations. The Board appoints the system's chancellor and presidents of the state colleges and universities.
