GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS FOUR TO THE STATE BOARD OF PHYSICAL THERAPY -- June 30, 2005
 

Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Timothy P. Fedje, Bruce Idelkope, Barbara Liebenstein, and Sandra Marden-Lokken to the State Board of Physical Therapy. 

Timothy P. Fedje, of Rochester, has been a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) in Minnesota since 1972.  He currently serves as a supervisor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester (Eisenberg Building and Charter House).  He joined the Mayo Clinic in 1972, and has been a physical therapy supervisor there since 1977.  Fedje received a B.A. in Zoology from Concordia College in Moorhead and a M.S. in Health Services Administration from the College of St. Francis, in Joliet, Illinois.  He is appointed to a Board position for a physical therapist member and will serve a four-year term which ends January 5, 2009.  Fedje was first appointed to the Board in 2000. 

Bruce Idelkope, of Minneapolis, has been a licensed Physician in Minnesota since 1976.  He currently serves as the medical director for the Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology Ltd., in Golden Valley.  He previously served as the medical director of Rehabilitative Services at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.  Idelkope received B.S. and M.D. degrees from the University of Minnesota.  He completed a residency in neurology at the University of Minnesota and is board certified by the American Academy of Psychiatry and Neurology.  Idelkope is appointed to the board position for a physician member and will serve a four-year term which ends January 5, 2009.  He was first appointed to the Board in 2000. 

Barbara Liebenstein, of Dundas, is the co-owner of the Wolf Creek Dairy, a 400 cow dairy farm.  She has been a dairy producer since 1987.  From 1988 to 1993, Liebenstein served as a certified veterinary technician at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in St. Paul.  From 1985 to 1988, she served as a certified veterinary technician at the Cannon Valley Veterinary Clinic in Northfield.  Liebenstein received an A.A.S. degree in Veterinary Technology from the University of Minnesota-Waseca.  She is appointed to a board position for a public member and will serve a four-year term which ends January 5, 2009.  Liebenstein replaces Donald Sheffield on the Board. 

Sandra Marden-Lokken, of Duluth, has been a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) in Minnesota since 1977.  She currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth.  Marden-Lokken previously served as a physical therapist and clinical instructor at the Polinsky Medical Rehabilitation Center in Duluth, and as a physical therapy supervisor at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.  She received a B.A. in Physical Therapy and a M.A. in Management from the College of St. Scholastica.  Marden-Lokken is appointed to a Board position for a physical therapist member and will serve a term which ends January 1, 2007.  She fills the Board seat formerly held by Dennis Lutterman, PT. 

The State Board of Physical Therapy is responsible for licensing and disciplining physical therapists.  The board was formed in 1999.  The board is made up of nine members appointed by the Governor.
