Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the reappointment of Jonathon Bloomberg and Susan McCarville and the appointment of Julie Goehring and Dennis Wenzel to the Minnesota Environmental Quality Board (EQB). All four are appointed to public member positions on the board.

Bloomberg, of Minneapolis, is an attorney at Bloomberg & Podpeskar LLP, where he practices environmental law. He previously worked as a partner and chair of the environmental practice group at the Oppenheimer, Wolff & Donnelly law firm. He currently serves as an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas School of Law. He received a juris doctorate from Cornell Law School in Ithaca, New York and a bachelor of science degree in economics from the University of Minnesota. Bloomberg is reappointed to a four-year term that expires January 3, 2011.

McCarville, of Hopkins, works for the City of Eden Prairie and is also an owner of Mac’s Liquor Store in Hopkins. She has served in numerous church, school, and community organizations, including the West Suburban Jr. Kodiaks Hockey, the Hopkins Raspberry Festival, Benilde St. Margaret’s School, John Ireland Parochial School, and the Hopkins Little League. She is a graduate of the Brown Institute in radio broadcasting and engineering. McCarville is reappointed to a four-year term that expires January 3, 2011.

Goehring, of Moorhead, is the director of communications and oversees the development and implementation of water resource management plans and education programs for the Red River Basin Commission (RRBC). She and her husband Karl run a farm in Moorhead. Goehring is appointed to complete a four-year term that ends January 5, 2009. She replaces Brenda Elmer on the board.

Wenzel, of St. Paul, has fifteen years of experience in government policy analysis, project management, and system integration. He is an advocate for better environmental policy and is an active outdoorsman. Wenzel holds a master of social work from the University of St. Thomas and a bachelor of arts in business management from St. John’s University in Collegeville. He is appointed to complete a four-year term that ends January 4, 2010. Wenzel replaces Bruce Bomier on the board.

The Minnesota Environmental Quality Board (EQB) helps coordinate the actions of the major state agencies, and is charged with providing the Governor and the Legislature tools to address environmental issues that do not fit under the other state environmental agencies. The board consists of 16 members, including five public members appointed by the Governor.
