GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS FOUR TO THE BOARD OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS -- April 18, 2007
 

Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Dr. Diane Rauschenfels, Ed.D., and Dr. Daniel Sullivan, Ph.D., and the reappointment of Dr. Bruce Kramer, Ph.D., and Mary Mackbee, to the Board of School Administrators.

Rauschenfels, of Duluth is the superintendent of Proctor public schools. Her experience in school administration spans twenty-seven years. In addition to her duties as superintendent, she serves as an adjunct professor in the educational administration program for St. Mary’s University, Twin Cities campus. Rauschenfels is a member of the Rails Endowment for Academic, Athletic, and Arts Development board, National Association for Secondary School Principals; Phi Delta Kappa; and chairs the Proctor public schools strategic planning committee. Rauschenfels received her decorate degree in education from the University of Wisconsin, her master’s degree in English and language arts and her bachelor of science degree in English and math from the University of Minnesota, Duluth. Rauschenfels is appointed as the superintendent member of the board to fill a term that expires January 4, 2010. She replaces Robert Windel on the board.

Sullivan, of Burnsville has been the director of special education for Intermediate School District 917 since 1984. He is licensed as a director of special education, school superintendent and secondary school principal. Sullivan is a member of the Council for Exceptional Children, Minnesota Administrators for Special Education, and the American Association of School Administrators. Sullivan received his doctor of philosophy degree from the University of Minnesota. He received a master’s of science degree in special education and bachelor of science degree in social studies from St. Cloud State University. Sullivan is appointed as the special education director member to fill a term that expires January 7, 2008. He replaces Barbara Troolin on the board.

Kramer, of Minneapolis is the associate dean at the University of St. Thomas, School of Education. Kramer has been at the University of St. Thomas for 10 years, most recently as associate professor and chair of the department of leadership, policy and administration. He earned his doctorate degree in foundations and administration from Purdue University in 1993. He earned a master's of music performance degree and a bachelor of arts degree in music education and psychology from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Before joining the University of St. Thomas, Kramer was the high school principal at three different international schools; International School of Stavanger, Norway; Cairo American College, Egypt, and International School Bangkok, Thailand. Kramer is reappointed as the higher education administrator member of the board to a four year term that ends January 3, 2011.

Mackbee, of Bloomington is the current chair of the Minnesota Board of School Administrators. She has been with the St. Paul public schools since 1966 and currently is the principal at Central Senior High. Mackbee is a member of the National Association for Secondary School Principals, the Minnesota Academic Excellence Foundation, and Phi Delta Kappa, an international association for professional educators. She received a master’s degree in education administration from the University of Minnesota, and a bachelor of arts degree in education from Xavier University in Louisiana. Mackbee is reappointed as the secondary principal member of the board to a four year term that ends January 3, 2011.

The Board of School Administrators is responsible for the licensing of school administrators; the approval of higher education programs and continuing education courses for school administrators; and the enforcement of the code of ethics for school administrators. The board is made up of ten members appointed by the Governor.
