GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS FIVE TO BOARD OF PHYSICAL THERAPY -- February 27, 2009
 

Saint Paul – Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Linda Gustafson and Therese McDevitt, and the reappointment of Timothy Fedje, Dr. Bruce Idelkope, and Barbara Liebenstein to the State Board of Physical Therapy.

Fedje, of Rochester, has been a licensed physical therapist in Minnesota since 1972. He currently serves as a supervisor in the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Fedje received a bachelor of arts degree in zoology from Concordia College in Moorhead, and a master of science degree in health services administration from the College of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois. He is appointed as a physical therapist member to a four-year term that ends January 7, 2013.

Gustafson, of Minnetonka, is the director of the Fairview Acute Rehabilitation Center at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. She earned her bachelor of science degree in physical therapy from the University of Minnesota and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association. She is appointed as a physical therapist to fill a vacant position with a term ending January 3, 2011.

Idelkope, of Minneapolis, has been a licensed physician in Minnesota since 1976. He currently serves as the medical director for the Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology Ltd., in Golden Valley. He previously served as the medical director of Rehabilitative Services at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. Idelkope earned his bachelor of science and medical doctor degrees from the University of Minnesota. He completed a residency in neurology at the University of Minnesota and is board certified by the American Academy of Psychiatry and Neurology. Idelkope is appointed as a physician member to a four-year term that ends January 7, 2013.

Liebenstein, of Dundas, is the co-owner of the Wolf Creek Dairy, a 400 cow dairy farm. She has been a dairy producer since 1987. From 1988 to 1993, Liebenstein served as a certified veterinary technician at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Teaching Hospital in St. Paul. Liebenstein received an associate of applied science degree in veterinary technology from the University of Minnesota-Waseca. She is appointed as a public member to a four-year term that ends January 7, 2013.

McDevitt, of Brooklyn Center, is a physical therapist assistant working for Maranatha Care Center, Methodist Hospital, and Professional Resources, Inc. She earned her associate of applied science degree in physical therapy from St. Mary’s Junior College in Minneapolis, and her bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul. She is appointed to a vacant board position for a physical therapist assistant member with a term that expires January 3, 2011.

The State Board of Physical Therapy is responsible for licensing and disciplining physical therapists. The board is made up of nine members appointed by the Governor.
