GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS FIVE TO BOARD OF MEDICAL PRACTICE -- April 20, 2009
 

Saint Paul – Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Dr. Mark Eggen, Sarah Evenson, Dr. Subbarao Inampudi, and Dr. Tracy Tomac and the reappointment of Dr. Keith Berge to the Board of Medical Practice.

Berge, of Rochester, is a board certified consultant in anesthesiology at Mayo Clinic. He also serves as an assistant professor of anesthesiology in the College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic. Berge received his bachelor of science degree in microbiology at the University of Minnesota and doctor of medicine degree from the Mayo Medical School. Berge is a member of the American Medical Association, American Society of Anesthesiologists, Minnesota Medical Association, and the Minnesota Society of Anesthesiologists. He is reappointed as a medical doctor from congressional district one to a four-year term that expires January 7, 2013.

Eggen, of Shoreview, is a board certified anesthesiologist with Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. He is an American Board of Anesthesiology diplomate and is licensed to practice in both Minnesota and California. Eggen earned his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Minnesota and completed his anesthesiology residency at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. Eggen is a member and former president of the Minnesota Society of Anesthesiologists, a member of the American Medical Association, International Anesthesia Research Society, and East Metro Medical Society. He is appointed as a medical doctor from congressional district four to a four-year term that expires January 7, 2013. He replaces Dr. Jon Thomas on the board.

Evenson, of Plymouth, is an attorney with expertise in personal injury, estate planning, business and real estate law. She earned her juris doctor degree from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, master of business administration degree from the University of St. Thomas Graduate School of Business, in Minneapolis, and bachelor of science degrees in accounting and business finance from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls. She is appointed as a public member to fulfill a four-year term that expires January 2, 2012 and replaces Kelly Johnson on the board.

Inampudi, of Minnetonka, is a board certified radiologist with Abbot-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis and works for Consulting Radiologists, Ltd. He earned his medical degree from Sri Venkateswara University, in Tirupati, India and completed his fellowship and residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, New York. He is the president of the Minnesota Radiological Society and chairs the Quality Committee of the Allina Board of Directors. Inampudi is licensed to practice in Arizona, California, Minnesota, and Texas. He is appointed as a medical doctor from congressional district three to a four-year term that expires January 7, 2013 and replaces Dr. Carl Smith on the board.

Tomac, of Duluth, is a board certified psychiatrist with 12 years of post-residency experience. She is the chair of the department of psychiatry at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth and is an associate clinical professor at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, School of Medicine. Tomac earned her medical doctor degree from Texas A&M University, in College Station, Texas, and completed her residency in psychiatry and diagnostic radiology at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, in Rochester, Minnesota. She is licensed to practice in Minnesota and Wisconsin and is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, Minnesota Psychiatric Society, and American Medical Associations. Tomac is appointed as a medical doctor from congressional district eight to a four-year term that expires January 7, 2013 and replaces Dr. Linda Van Etta on the board.

The Board of Medical Practice is responsible for licensing and disciplining physicians as well as the regulation of acupuncturists, athletic trainers, physician assistants, and respiratory care practitioners. The board is made up of 16 members appointed by the Governor.
