GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS FOUR TO CENTER FOR ARTS EDUCATION BOARD -- June 15, 2009
 

Saint Paul – Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Stephan Daly, Vernae Hasbargen, and Todd Liljenquist and the reappointment of Roberta Jones to the Perpich Center for Arts Education Board of Directors. All are appointed to four-year terms that expire January 7, 2013.

Daly, of St. Paul, is a business professional with over 20 years of experience in the reinsurance industry. In addition to his business experience, Daly is a distinguished local musician and artist. He is the lead guitar and lead vocals for the band High and Mighty and leads the local rock band Critical Mass. Daly earned his bachelor of arts degree in mathematics from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.

Hasbargen, of Breckenridge, is a nonprofit leader serving on the boards of Clearway Minnesota, MinnPost.com and the North Dakota State College of Science Foundations. She is also an advisor to the Freeman Forum at the Humphrey Institute of the University of Minnesota and owns a farm in Wilkin County. Hasbargen earned her bachelor of arts degree from Concordia College in Moorhead.

Liljenquist, of Minneapolis, is the director of government relations for the Minnesota Multi Housing Association in Bloomington. He is a member of the Hennepin County and Minnesota State Bar Associations. Liljenquist earned his juris doctor, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School and holds a bachelor of arts degree in music education and arts management from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.

Jones, of Minneapolis, is an assistant county attorney for Hennepin County. Prior to joining the County Attorney's Office, she worked as a law clerk for Judge LaJune Thomas Lange of the Fourth Judicial District in Hennepin County. Jones received a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish literature from Ohio Wesleyan University, a master of arts degree in economics from the New School for Social Research in New York, and a juris doctor from the University of Texas School of Law.

The Perpich Center for Arts Education is located in Golden Valley. The Perpich Center for Arts Education includes the Research, Assessment, and Curriculum Center; the Professional Development Institute, and the Learning Resource Center, all serving teachers and schools across the entire State of Minnesota. It is also home to the Arts High School, serving 11th and 12th grade students who come from throughout Minnesota. The Center is governed by a board of 15 members appointed by the Governor.
