GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS TWO TO HIGHER EDUCATION FACILITIES AUTHORITY -- August 27, 2009

Saint Paul – Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Tammy L. H. McGee and the reappointment of David D. Rowland to the Minnesota Higher Education Facilities Authority. Both are appointed to four-year terms that expire on January 7, 2013.

McGee, of Maple Grove, is the vice president of finance and administration with St. Catherine University in St. Paul, a position she has held since 2004. She was the vice president of finance and operations at Minneapolis Community and Technical College from 2001 to 2004, and has over 15 years of experience in financial analysis, strategic planning, and project management. McGee earned a master of business administration degree from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul in 1986, and her bachelor of science degree in finance and economics from St. Cloud State University in 1981. McGee is a member of the Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities; Minnesota Board of Medical Practice, where she chairs the Policy and Planning Committee; and a former member of the Metropolitan Airports Commission, where she chaired the Finance, Development and Environment Committee. McGee replaces Carla Nelson on the Minnesota Higher Education Facilities Authority as a public member.

Rowland, of Eden Prairie, is a senior vice president and the director of fixed income investments with Travelers Companies, Inc. in St. Paul. He has been with Travelers since 1996, and previously held positions as vice president in the public finance department at Piper Jaffray, Inc. and associate vice president in the public finance department at Dain Bosworth Inc., both in Minneapolis. Rowland earned a master of management degree with distinction from Northwestern University’s J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management in Evanston, Illinois in 1992 and his bachelor of arts degree in economics magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana in 1987. Rowland, who has been a member of the Minnesota Higher Education Facilities Authority since 2001, is reappointed to a position for an expert in municipal finance.

The Minnesota Higher Education Facilities Authority assists Minnesota nonprofit institutions of higher education by issuing tax-exempt revenue bonds. These funds are used to finance construction projects, renovate existing buildings, or purchase equipment. The authority’s board is made up of 10 members, including eight appointed by the Governor.
