GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS KAPLER TO BOARD OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS -- December 2, 2009
 

Saint Paul – Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Denise G. Kapler to the Board of School Administrators.

Kapler, of Woodbury, is a mathematics teacher at Washington Technology Middle School, a science teacher at Gordon Parks High School, and the federal magnet grant program manager for the St. Paul Public Schools. She is also an adjunct professor in the Saint Catherine University certification program for licensed pre-kindergarten through eighth grade teachers. Kapler earned a master of arts degree in education from the College of Saint Catherine, a master of business administration degree from the University of Minnesota, and her bachelor of science degree from Iowa State University in Ames.

Kapler is a member of the Independent School District 833 (South Washington County) School Board, Minnesota Council of Teachers of Mathematics, National Science Teachers Association, Minnesota School Board Association and National School Board Association as well as a number of community organizations. Kapler replaces Michael Munson on the Board of School Administrators as a representative of classroom teachers to complete a four-year term that expires on January 3, 2011.

The Board of School Administrators is responsible for the licensing of school administrators; the approval of higher education programs and continuing education courses for school administrators; and the enforcement of the code of ethics for school administrators. The board is made up of 10 members appointed by the Governor.
