GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS STONE TO BOARD OF BARBER EXAMINERS -- December 18, 2009

Saint Paul – Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Jon C. Stone to the Board of Barber Examiners.

Stone, of Detroit Lakes, has been a self-employed barber at Jim’s Barbershop in Detroit Lakes since 1997. He apprenticed at Jim’s Barbershop for a year prior to that. Stone is also an emergency medical technician with St. Mary’s EMS and a deputy sheriff with the Becker County Sheriff’s Auxiliary. Stone holds a degree in computer programming from Interstate Business College in Fargo, North Dakota, is a graduate of Moler Barber College in Fargo, and is licensed as a master barber, a part-time peace officer and is certified in Minnesota – as well as nationally – as an EMT-B. Stone replaces Theresa Iliff on the Board of Barber Examiners as a master barber for a four-year term that expires on January 6, 2014.

The Board of Barber Examiners oversees the administration, enforcement, regulation, and adoption of rules regulating the barber profession. The board consists of four members appointed by the Governor, including three barbers and one public member.
