GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS NORRI TO SERVEMINNESOTA COMMISSION -- January 20, 2010
 

Saint Paul – Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Kelly Norri to the Minnesota Commission on National and Community Service, also known as the ServeMinnesota Commission.

Norri, of Bloomington, is the service-learning coordinator at Normandale Community College, a position she has held since 2007. She was a technical trainer with the United States Peace Corps in Lusaka, Zambia in 2007, a health extension officer with the U.S. Peace Corps in Katete, Zambia from 2005 to 2006, an adventure program counselor with the Camp Heartland Center in Willow River in 2004, and an assistant camp director at the YMCA’s Camp Warren in Eveleth in 2002. Norri is currently pursuing her master of arts degree in adult English as a second language from Hamline University in St. Paul, and earned her bachelor of science degree in business management from Montana State University in Bozeman in 2002. She volunteers with the Minnesota Literacy Council in St. Paul. Norri replaces Casey LaCore as a representative of community-based organizations to complete a three-year term that expires on August 1, 2010.

The Minnesota Commission on National and Community Service coordinates volunteer learning service programs, administers the youth works grant program as well as the federal Americorps program. The commission consists of 25 members, including 24 appointed by the governor, the Commissioner of Education plus four ex-officio legislative members.
