GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS THREE TO GOVERNOR'S RESIDENCE COUNCIL -- March 1, 2010
 

Saint Paul – Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Catherine Harrington and the reappointment of Nancy Malloy Jones and Kristin Parrish to the Governor’s Residence Council (GRC). All three are appointed to four-year terms that expire on January 6, 2014.

Harrington, of Maplewood, is an interior designer with Waldenwood, Ltd. She has been a practicing interior designer for 28 years and has been involved in showcase homes and residential projects that involved historic restoration. Harrington is the current president of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and also serves on the board of directors. She has been an adjunct faculty with Century College where she taught interior design classes, served on the interior design program advisory committee, and was a faculty advisory for the student chapter of the ASID. Harrington earned her bachelor of fine and professional arts degree in interior design from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. Harrington replaces Brian Ellingson on the GRC to a position for a member Minnesota Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers.

Jones, of Edina, is vice president and chief financial officer of Les Jones Roofing, Inc. in Bloomington, a business she and her husband started in 1981. Previously, she managed the office of John Kaufman Roofing, worked in the cost accounting department at 3M, and worked for the Minnesota State Planning Agency. She is a member and past chair of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Minnesota Board of Directors and currently serves on its legislative committee. She is also a trustee with the national Associated Builders and Contractors Free Enterprise Alliance, is a member of the National Roofing Contractors and Midwest Roofing Contractors Associations. Jones, who has been a member of the GRC since 2007, is reappointed as a public member.

Parrish of Hamel, is a member and past president of the 1006 Summit Society, a non-profit fundraising organization created in 1982 to aid in the preservation and refurbishment of the Minnesota Governor's Residence. She is Vice Chair of Stages Theatre Company's board of directors, is an active member of the WCA Foundation, and serves as a board member of the Orono Alliance for Education. She is also currently working on St. Jude's annual fundraising event. Parrish, who has been a member of the GRC since 2006, is reappointed as a public member.

The Governor’s Residence Council develops and implements an overall restoration plan for the governor’s residence and surrounding grounds and solicits contributions to restore, maintain, improve and furnish the building. The council consists of 19 members, including 13 appointed by the Governor.
