GOVERNOR PAWLENTY REAPPOINTS McCABE AND SWANHOLM TO BOARD OF PODIATRIC MEDICINE -- March 23, 2010
 

Saint Paul – Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the reappointment of Dr. Schelli McCabe and Judy Swanholm to the Board of Podiatric Medicine. Both are reappointed to a four-year term that expires January 6, 2014.

McCabe, of St. Peter, has been a licensed podiatrist in Minnesota since 1987. She is the daughter of M.D. Olmanson, M.D., of St. Peter; granddaughter of Albert Fritsche, M.D., of New Ulm, and E.G. Olmanson, of St. Peter; and great-granddaughter of Louis Albert Fritsche, M.D. – the first medical doctor to be licensed in Minnesota (license number 1 in 1887). McCabe is a podiatrist with the Foot and Ankle Clinic of St. Peter, Inc., a private practice in St. Peter; and chair of surgical services as well as president of the medical staff at River’s Edge Hospital and Clinic in St. Peter. McCabe earned her doctor of podiatric medicine degree from Dr. William Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, and her bachelor of arts degree in biology from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. She completed her surgical residency at Metropolitan-Mount Sinai Hospital in Minneapolis. McCabe, who has been a member of the Board of Podiatric Medicine since 2006, is reappointed as a podiatrist member.

Swanholm, of St. Paul, is retired as the executive aide to the chancellor for the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. She also held several positions in the offices of former Governor Arne Carlson and former Senator David Durenberger, and managed the Hamline University graduate student office. An avid traveler, she has taught English in China and Poland, served on a medical mission to Nigeria, and has volunteered for a number of organizations and civic groups. Swanholm earned her master’s degree from Hamline University in St. Paul, and her bachelor of science degree from the University of Minnesota. Swanholm, who has been a member of the Board of Podiatric Medicine since 2007, is reappointed as a public member. The Board of Podiatric Medicine is responsible for licensing and disciplining doctors of podiatric medicine. The board is made up of seven members appointed by the Governor -
