GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS FOUR TO NURSING BOARD -- July 15, 2010
 

Saint Paul – Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of David Brewer, Cindy DeJarlais, Marilyn K. Krasowski, Ed.D., and Stuart T. Williams to the Minnesota Board of Nursing.

Brewer, of Pine Island, is a licensed practical nurse (LPN) with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, a position he has held since 2004. Previously, he served in the United States Air Force (USAF) Medical Service Corp. at Whiteman Air Force Base (AFB) in Missouri, Incirlik AFB in Turkey, and Mountain Home AFB in Idaho from 1985 to 2004. He has numerous USAF medical service accomplishments and has been a licensed practical nurse in Minnesota since 2001. Brewer replaces Karen Trettel on the Board of Nursing as a licensed practical nurse member, and is appointed to a four-year term that expires on January 6, 2014.

DeJarlais, of Pine City, is a licensed practical nurse (LPN) and the primary nurse to orthopedics at Cambridge Medical Center, a position she has held since 2004. Previously, she was an LPN clinic specialty nurse, urgent care, surgical scrub nurse and surgery center manager with Lakeside Medical Center in Pine City from 1996 to 2004, and a nursing assistant at Rush City Hospital from 1975 to 1996. DeJarlais earned her LPN degree from Pine Technical/St. Cloud Technical College in Pine City and St. Cloud. Dejarlais replaces Judy Anderson on the Board of Nursing as a licensed practical nurse member, and is appointed to complete a four-year term that expires on January 7, 2013.

Krasowski, of Minneapolis, is the dean of health and service programs at Saint Paul College, a position she has held since 1994. Previously, she was an instructor and practical nursing program coordinator at Saint Paul College, a health occupation instructor at St. Paul Central High School, an ambulatory care registered nurse (RN) at St. Paul Ramsey Medical Center, an associate degree RN program instructor at Anoka-Ramsey Community College, and an RN at United Hospital in St. Paul. Krasowski earned her doctorate degree in educational policy and administration from the University of Minnesota, her master of science degree in nursing from the New York Medical College Graduate School of Nursing in Valhalla and her bachelor of arts degree from Hamline University in St. Paul. Krasowski replaces Glenda Moyers on the Board of Nursing as a practical nursing educator member, and is appointed to a four-year term that expires on January 6, 2014.

Williams, of St. Louis Park, is an attorney and shareholder with the Henson and Efron law firm in Minneapolis, where he practices in business litigation, products liability and toxic tort litigation, environmental law, and employment law. Williams earned his law degree as well as his bachelor of arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and served two years in the United States Army. He is a member of the Minnesota Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board and chairs its Opinion Committee, and a former member and vice chair of the Fourth Judicial District Ethics Committee. Williams replaces Kimberly Keilholtz on the Board of Nursing as a public member, and is appointed to a four-year term that expires on January 6, 2014.

The Minnesota Board of Nursing licenses and disciplines nurses, and approves nurse education programs. The board consists of 16 members appointed by the Governor.
