GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS MILLETT AND PARKS TO BOARD OF DIETETICS AND NUTRITION PRACTICE -- August 31, 2010
 

Saint Paul – Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Stacey D. Millett and Susan M. Parks to the Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Practice. Both are appointed to four-year terms that expire on August 1, 2014.

Millett, of St. Paul, is the director of family services with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity in Minneapolis. She has 20 years of experience in leadership positions with a number of local non-profits. Millett earned her master of business administration degree in marketing from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management, her master of science degree in television and radio from the Syracuse University Newhouse School of Communications in Syracuse New York, and her bachelor of arts degree in English from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. Her community activities include serving on the Commission on Judicial Selection, Citizens League, and as a classroom volunteer with the St. Paul Public Schools. Millett replaces Yvonne Hundshamer on the Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Practice as a public member.

Parks, of Mendota Heights, is the chief executive officer of Healthnutrifit LLC, where she provides counseling services on clinical nutrition, sports nutrition, eating disorders, weight management, and food sensitivities, and has 35 years of experience as a nutritionist in a variety of settings. She is also a personal trainer and teaches nutrition classes at the Jewish Community Center of St. Paul. Parks earned her master of science degree in nutrition from Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio, and her bachelor of science degree cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania). She is a licensed nutritionist in Minnesota, a registered dietician with the American Dietetic Association, a certified specialist in sports dietetics, and a certified personal trainer with the American Council on Exercise. Parks replaces Alice Shapiro on the Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Practice as a licensed nutritionist member.

The Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Practice licenses and disciplines dieticians and nutritionists. The board consists of seven members appointed by the Governor, including two licensed dieticians with at least three years of dietetic practice in Minnesota, two licensed nutritionists with at least three years of practice in Minnesota, and three public members.
