GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS RISVOLD TO STATEWIDE RADIO BOARD -- September 28, 2010

Saint Paul – Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Wayzata Police Chief Michael J. Risvold to the Statewide Radio Board.

Risvold has been the chief of the Wayzata Police Department since 2004. Previously, he was a detective in the Hennepin County Sheriff’s office and a sergeant and second in command with the Minnetrista Public Safety Department. Risvold earned his bachelor of arts degree from St. Cloud State University. He is second vice president with the Hennepin County Chiefs of Police Association, a board member with the Wayzata Crime Prevention Coalition, and serves on the Minnesota Chiefs’ of Police Association Executive Training Institute Educational Committee and Gala Committee. He has also volunteered with Meals on Wheels, as a volunteer youth athletics coach, and served on the Christ Lutheran Church Council. Risvold replaces Chief Michael Goldstein on the Statewide Radio Board as a representative of metropolitan area police chiefs.

The Statewide Radio Board was created to develop a project plan for a statewide, shared, trunked public safety radio communication system, referred to as “Allied Radio Matrix for Emergency Response” or “ARMER”. The board consists of 21 members, including six appointed by the Governor.
