SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE FOR TEN MINNESOTA COUNTIES -- July 8, 2010
Governor Tim Pawlenty announced that his request for a Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Declaration was granted by the federal agency today in response to damage caused by tornados and severe storms that occurred June 17-26.

Small Business Administration requesting an SBA Disaster Declaration for the state of Minnesota in Faribault, Freeborn, Olmsted, Otter Tail, Polk, Steele and Wadena counties as a result of severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that occurred on June 17-26, 2010.

Governor Tim Pawlenty announced today that President Obama has approved a major disaster declaration for Minnesota. The Presidential declaration clears the way for federal relief and recovery assistance for the following counties: Faribault, Freeborn, Olmsted, Otter Tail, Polk, Steele and Wadena.

In a letter to Minnesota Human Services Commissioner Cal Ludeman, Governor Tim Pawlenty announced today that Minnesota will not participate in the early Medicaid enrollment contained in the new federal health care law. The Governor's decision was required by a new state law enacted last month.
