COMMISSION ON JUDICIAL SELECTION ANNOUNCES TENTH JUDICIAL DISTRICT VACANCIES -- June 22, 2005

The Commission on Judicial Selection today announced that applications are now being accepted for four Tenth Judicial District trial court bench vacancies.

Two of the judgeships are new positions created by the 2005 Minnesota Legislature (2005 Minnesota Laws, Chapter 135, Article 14, Section 1), which take effect on July 1, 2005.  The Minnesota Supreme Court has certified the chambers of both of these positions for the city of Buffalo in Wright County.

The other two vacancies are due to the upcoming retirements of the Honorable Stephen L. Muehlberg on September 30, 2005, and the Honorable Gary J. Meyer on October 31, 2005.   The Supreme Court certified the continuation of both of these judgeships for the city of Stillwater in Washington County.

Licensed Minnesota attorneys who are residents of the Tenth Judicial District may request an application for the Wright County positions and/or the Washington County positions by calling John Hultquist at 651-296-0019, via e-mail at john.hultquist@state.mn.us or by writing:

   Eric J. Magnuson, Chair
   Commission on Judicial Selection
   130 State Capitol
75 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
   St. Paul, MN  55155

All candidates for these vacancies must submit an application.  Applications and letters of recommendation for all four positions must be submitted to the above address so they are received no later than 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2005.

Applicants are asked not to contact the commission members individually, as the nine at-large members and the four district members will conduct interviews at a later date.
