GOVERNOR PAWLENTY REAPPOINTS BENSEN AND FOLEY TO MINNESOTA POLLUTION CONTROL AGENCY CITIZENS' BOARD -- March 11, 2009
 

Saint Paul – Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the reappointment of Brian Bensen and Dr. Daniel Foley to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) Citizens’ Board. Both are reappointed to four-year terms that expire January 7, 2013.

Bensen, of St. Cloud, is the county administrator for Sherburne County and serves as chair of the Resource Recovery Operations Committee of the Elk River Resource Recovery Facility. He is a member of the Minnesota Association of County Administrators and Association of Minnesota Counties. Bensen received a bachelor of science degree in secondary education, history and political science from St. Cloud State University.

Foley, of Woodbury, is vice president of medical affairs at Allina Hospitals & Clinics. He also serves as the medical director of Allina's United Hospital. Foley is board certified in family practice medicine, emergency medicine, and medical toxicology. He received a bachelor of science degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and a medical doctor degree from the University of Parma, Italy. He completed a family practice residency at North Memorial Medical Center.

The MPCA Citizens' Board considers and makes decisions on varied and complex pollution problems that affect areas of the state. Decisions are intended to achieve a reasonable degree of purity of the water, air and land resources. The Citizens' Board consists of the Commissioner of the MPCA and eight public members appointed by the Governor.
