GOVERNOR PAWLENTY REAPPOINTS MARECK TO GOVERNOR'S WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL -- December 2, 2009
 

Saint Paul - Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the reappointment of Larry Mareck to the Governor's Workforce Development Council (GWDC).

Mareck, of Albany, is president of the St. Cloud Building and Construction Trades Council and serves on the executive board of the State Building and Construction Trades Council. He has been a member of the Carpenters Union Local #930 since 1971, was the financial secretary of the St. Cloud Carpenters Union, and business representative for over 20 years. He is also a member of the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership Board, and the Central Minnesota Trades and Labor Assembly, and has served on the St. Cloud Economic Development Partnership Board, and his local workforce and joint powers boards. Mareck, who has been a member of the GWDC since 2000, is reappointed as a labor representative to another three-year term that expires on June 30, 2012.

The Governor's Workforce Development Council coordinates the development, implementation, and evaluation of the statewide education and employment transitions system and Minnesota youth services programs. The council consists of 32 members, including 28 appointed by the Governor.
