GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS JONES TO PEACE OFFICER STANDARDS AND TRAINING BOARD -- June 18, 2010
 

Saint Paul – Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Cold Spring Police Chief Phil Jones to the Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST Board) and Maple Grove Police Chief Ramona Dohman replaces John Bolduc as chair of the board for a term that expires on January 2, 2012.

Jones, of Cold Spring, has been the Police Chief for the cities of Cold Spring and Richmond since 1992. He also served in the United States Marine Corps, and the Minnesota Army National Guard. Jones earned his bachelor of science degree with honors in criminal justice from Mankato State University. He has also completed training on police tactics at the Hibbing Community College Skills Academy, participated in the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Police Management Series, and completed training in programs at the Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Washington, D.C. Jones is the president of the Stearns County Chiefs of Police Association, Stearns County Mental Health Advisory Task Force, and the Minnesota School and Staff Emergency All Hazards Task Force. He received the Medal of Honor from the Minnesota State Chiefs of Police Association, and three commendations from the Rocori School District following the Rocori School shooting in 2003. Jones replaces John Bolduc on the POST Board and as a representative of municipal police chiefs, and is appointed to complete a four-year term that expires on January 6, 2014.

Dohman, of Maple Grove, has been the Maple Grove Police Chief since 2001. She has held a number of positions with the Maple Grove Police Department since 1984, and previously was a patrol officer with the cities of Marshall and Glencoe. Dohman holds a masters degree in police leadership, administration and education from the University of St. Thomas, and a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice administration from Metropolitan State University. Dohman is the immediate past president of the Minnesota Chiefs’ of Police Association. She is also past president of the Hennepin County Chiefs’ of Police Association, Maple Grove Police Association, and Hennepin County Juvenile Advisory Board, and serves as a member of the Alexandria Technical College Law Enforcement Advisory Board. Dohman, who has been a member of the POST Board since 2004, replaces John Bolduc as chair of the board for a term that expires on January 2, 2012.

The Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training establishes minimum qualifications and standards of conduct and regulates professional peace officer education and continuing education programs. The board consists of 15 members, including 14 appointed by the Governor.
