Governor Dayton Orders Flags Flown at Half-Staff in Honor of the Victims of the Attack in Las Vegas, Nevada

10/2/2017 12:50:18 PM

ST. PAUL, MN – In accordance with the proclamation issued today by President Donald Trump, Governor Mark Dayton has ordered all United States flags and Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in the State of Minnesota. As directed by the President, flags will be flown at half-staff beginning immediately, until sunset on Friday, October 6, 2017, as a mark of respect for the victims of the terrible act of violence in Las Vegas, Nevada.

On Sunday, October 1, 2017, a terrible attack on innocent people occurred in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the victims and their families deserve our honor, respect, and remembrance.

The following is a statement from Governor Mark Dayton:

“The terrible attack in Las Vegas has shocked and horrified the conscience of every American. I urge all Minnesotans and all Americans to call upon our own best natures, put aside our differences, and work for an end to this insane violence. I also ask for special prayers for the recovery of Minnesotan Phillip Aurich, who was critically wounded in the attack. His family’s Facebook post asks everyone to ‘keep Phil, his children Reagan and Ryder, and his parents Mike and Mindy in their prayers.’”

The following is a statement from Lt. Governor Tina Smith:

“We mourn the terrible loss of life and injury in Las Vegas, resulted from another tragic and senseless act of terror and violence. Peace be with the families of those who were lost or injured. I have faith that good people, with good hearts, doing good things, can help heal these wounds and move us forward to real change.”
