He ran unsuccessfully for Mayor of St. Cloud, Minnesota in the 1964 election.

He died from complications related to salmonella poisoning and heart ailments at St. Cloud Hospital in Minnesota. His funeral was held at Christ Newman Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He was buried in the United Hebrew Brotherhood Cemetery in Richfield, Minnesota.
