He moved from Linesville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania to the future site of Mantorville, Minnesota on April 19, 1854. He moved to Bismarck, North Dakota in 1874. He returned to Mantorville, Minnesota after 1880.
"[The name of Mantorville] was adopted in honor of three brothers, Peter, Riley, and Frank Mantor who came here in 1853 and 1854 from Linesville, Crawford County, Pa." (Minnesota Place Names, MHS, 2001)
