Toensing lists his first initial as H. The History of Minnesota: from the French Explorations to the Present Time, 1873, the Minnesota Legislative Manual, 1889, and the Minnesota Journal of the House, 1856 list R.

R. Carlisle Burdick, was 21 when he served in the 1856 Minnesota Territorial House of Representatives. He was the youngest known person to be elected to the Minnesota Territorial Legislative Assembly. Carl Mario D'Aquila was 22 when elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1946, the youngest known person elected to the Minnesota Legislature at that time. Thaddeus Jude replaced him as the youngest known person elected to the Minnesota Legislature. When he was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1972 he was 20 years old and turned 21 in December before being sworn in to office in January 1973.
