GENERAL NOTES

He was of English ancestry.

Toensing lists his birth year as 1845. His great great granddaughter says he was born in 1811. The Minnesota Legislative Manual, 1881 lists him as being 69 years old which matches the 1811 year.

Toensing lists his death year as 1915. His great great granddaughter says he died in 1881 which explains why he wasn't present for the extra session.

He lived in New Hampshire, then Iowa, before he came to Minnesota in 1852. He was one of the first white settlers in the Rice Lake area, in what was to become Dodge County, Minnesota, in 1854.

His great great granddaughter thinks he was affiliated with the Republican party.

"The first town meeting for Claremont Township was held at his home on May, 11, 1858." (Orlando Burr Kidder's great great granddaughter)

"Virtually all of the Kidders in the U.S stem from Ensign James Kidder who came from England to Cambridge, MA around 1654. He had two sons, James and John, from which all of the rest have descended. O.B. Kidder was descended from son James, whereas Jefferson was from son John
both of whom were born in the 1650s." (Orlando Burr Kidder's great great granddaughter)

He died in Claremont, Minnesota. He was buried in the Claremont Street Cemetery in Claremont, Minnesota.
