He ran unsuccessfully for the United States House of Representatives in the Minnesota 3rd Congressional District in the 1958 election.
He ran unsuccessfully for Republican party endorsement to run for the United States House of Representatives in the Minnesota 3rd Congressional District in the 1960 election. The party endorsed Clark MacGregor.
The Lindquist Apartments for homeless youth in transition in north Minneapolis, Minnesota were named after him.
He died, from complications due to a fall, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His funeral was held at Hennepin Avenue Methodist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
