The St. Paul Pioneer Press, November 10, 1877 lists his last name as Aherns. All other sources list Ahrens.
He came to the United States in 1853. He moved to New York in 1854. He moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1855. He moved to Illinois in 1859. He came to Nicollet County, Minnesota in 1861. He moved to Beaver Falls, Minnesota in the spring of 1862. He returned to Illinois in the summer of 1862 due to the Indian uprisings. He later returned to Renville County, Minnesota. He moved to Morton, Minnesota in 1903.
