Toensing and A History of the City of St. Paul to 1875, 1983 edition, by J. Fletcher Williams, p. 331 list his last name as Olivier. The Minnesota Journal of the House, 1853, and Minnesota in Three Centuries list Oliver.

Toensing and the Minnesota Legislative Manuals, 1872 and 1889 list his middle initial as M. Minnesota in Three Centuries lists H.

He came to St. Paul, Minnesota in 1850. He returned to Canada in 1857.
